Choosing your mode: Events Only, Self-Dispatch or Fully Managed Optimisation

Axle offers different modes for how your battery takes part. Here’s where things stand at the moment.

• Events Only. This is the mode we currently run, and it’s the one you’ll be on. Axle sends commands to your inverter to export your battery when a grid event is called. The rest of the time you keep full control of your own schedule, and you manage your own charge levels ahead of an event (we don’t trigger charging for you). You’ll earn £1/kWh during events, with the guaranteed £10 a month minimum.

• Fully Managed Optimisation. We ran this as a short beta trial and aren’t currently accepting new users onto it. If it reopens in future, we’ll let you know by email and in your Axle account.

• Self-Dispatch. You stay opted in to events as normal, but instead of Axle sending export commands to your inverter, exporting during each event window is under your control, usually automated through a Home Assistant setup. Axle still provides the event notifications and schedule, and stays connected only to take accurate readings for payment.
